Antipathy release date delayed

Posted by m3 On August - 14 - 2009

I am pleased to announce that we are delaying the release date of our Gears of War short “Antipathy”.  Why am I pleased?  What could possibly be so wrong with me that I could be happy about this travesty? Because it will make the film a gabillion times better that’s why!

First of all I need to thank everyone for their helpful comments on the plethora of blogs, forums, websites, etc that Antipathy was promoted.  99% of the comments have been very positive and I would just like to say that I, the creator, feed off of this.  It really helps keep you motivated, so huge thanks there.  Of course this is somewhat of a double edged sword as it made me really analyze the film under the proverbial microscope.  So what am I doing?

First: I am totally redoing the opening sequence, adding entire scenes that will help the viewer get a much clearer idea of what is going on.

Second: I don’t want to say too much here but I am creating a system that will allow me to demolish a city in unreal.

Third: I am totally redoing the fight scene and ending. One of the biggest criticisms I got (and maybe rightfully so) was about the locust ninja.  So I will tone that down a bit and make it closer to GoW reality.  And for those of you asking about why there are no guns, there is a def a reason why they don’t use guns.

Four: Adding dialog. This will be difficult and will require me to rig each COG head with facefx.  In addition I will have to use suitable voices for the characters.

I will also be releasing another trailer as we get a little bit closer to the release date.  That’s about it, thanks again for your support and I will keep you all updated as to my progress.

ps – yes Marcus IS in the film :)

Good for you on this decision making process – as long as at some point you do indeed release it. You and I have both seen people who get sucked into the eternal improvement vortex, never to have a finished product. As long as you’re consciously avoiding that, you should be in good shape.

I very recently delayed my next film for a similar reason, and I too think it’s going to be magnificently better because I’ve taken this time to further develop some things. So best of luck to us both!

Yes sir! As tough as it is to delay it, I have fallen into the “just finish it” thing too many times now. I want to do this one properly but like you say not fall into the vortex. Good luck to us both indeed!

I made a mini movie about GoW because I love the story. I just know that every story has two sides and history has shown us that men are indeed deceivers. This is why I decided to tell it from the Locusts POV :) Cheers!

I’m in agreement with your decision and look forward to the next trailer release. Your production work on facial animation and city destruction will be a breathtaking experience for me, . . . . Michael Bay style. =)

Kudos and great job moving forward.

man i really like locust ninja. whats wrong with a locust with a few moves but some guns would be nice also if you added a sword or something for the locust. I mean you might have taken it a little to far but i don’t think it would be a good idea to make a slow moving locust like on the game.

  10. dusty Said,

why cant you just make it for xbox 360 instead of waiting for about 5 or ten years to make a new system just for it
