Heed the warning!

Posted by m3 On June - 18 - 2009

When you open up Disk Manger (right click my computer > manage) and next to your 1TB drive (that incidentally houses all of your FRAPS clips and finished projects) there is a “AT RISK” icon and text.  Heed it! Else you will find yourself running chkdsk to try and recover whats left.  Which will fail due to the fact that the HD now sounds like it has small metalic rocks or equivilant inside and chkdsk has failed on you with an “unspecified error”. Heed the warning and get those files outta there!

Treadsters new look

Posted by m3 On May - 31 - 2009

I have updated the look of our site. It certainly looks better, hopefully things are a bit easier to find now. Having some problems with the redirect but as soon as that’s done the blog will replace the entire site.

My dad always told me..

Posted by m3 On May - 22 - 2009

..that a person is less able to communicate effectively when they are upset.  Rather he said to cool off and wait till your senses come back annnnd yady yady blah blah blah.  Well screw that.  I know this is old news but I was perusing the machiniweb tonight and stumbled across this…http://www.mprem.com/omf/page.php?44 – Its the winners of the OMFF (Congrats to the winners btw!).

Now I realize DK doesn’t compare to say someone frapsing flybys of a map and putting it to music but I noticed that Treadster was not even nominated for the technical achievement category and I’m like HOLY F*CK MAN, do the judges even know what it takes to produce all that content and get it back in to the game and then film /edit / sound it???  Technical achievement is the ONLY thing DK IS ffs!!!

I almost single handedly figured out the mesh/animation AND FaceFX workflow for the Unreal Engine. That was sofaking DIFFICULT!  Fun fact: all of the vehicles AND characters  were custom animated too. Did I also mention I designed and assembled and animated the motorcycle that is in DoubleKill v1 and 2? DK was good enough to win 1st place in the Make Something Unreal Contest but not good enough to even be nominated at the OMFF or any other festival for that matter. I hate to sound like a snob but the facts are the facts.

Suggestion: at least try to understand what the creators have to go through to make their films and not just the ones you pal around with, us newbs deserve a fair shake too…just sayin…  But I am digressing…don’t go posting on your blog when your all bent about something, its not a very good idea…sorry Dad.

Thanks for coming out

Thanks to the everyone that came out to see our Make Something Unreal Contest entry “Jess” last night.  It was a very successful launch and we have been getting a lot of positive feedback.  Hoped you liked it!  For those of you that missed it, stop on by when you can and check it out.  Thanks!

I am happy to announce the next episode of DoubleKill will be released soon.  This episode highlights one of the main characters in the 50 episode, 3 season story named “Jess”. It’s a peice of her back story and tells us a little about why she is the way she is and why it is a pretty bad idea to cross her, or in this case kidnap her child and order her execution.  Coming May 15th to a website near you :)

Treadster Media welcomes 3 new faces

Posted by m3 On December - 17 - 2008

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce 3 new members of the Treadster Media production crew.  They are:

Douglas Oberndorf – Doug is a Professor at the International Academy of Design and Technology and is an expert in the Unreal Engine as well as numerous 3D applications.  Doug will be handling all of the special effects for the film as well as automating some of the extras (cars, people, props) in Kismet.  Dougs website http://www.dougoberndorf.com/ut3_gameplay_tutorials_home.html is full of awesome tutorials for Unreal Engine fun!

Desan Taggart – Is an amazing environment artist currently creating the church (interior and exterior) in episode 1 (www.treadster.com/images/Church.jpg -http://www.desan.szm.sk/cathedral/gothic06.jpg).  Desan will also be creating the chemical factory and various other sets for the project. His level of detail is amazing and his models are as high a quality as I have seen.  His website is http://www.desan.sk/index40.html so check it out!

Micah McNeely – a talented environmental artist who also has a solid understanding of various 3D apps and is quickly coming up to speed in Unreal Editor.  He will be creating the control room in the opening of episode 1, the boardroom for episode 2, police station on Asteroid 109. as well as the interiors of the hellbender and scorpion.  He will also be helping me to create custom vehicles and environments for the series. http://micah3d.net/Portfolio.html - some really good stuff there, check it out.

These three are going to help us create stunning environments, incredible special effects, and unique vehicles and characters that will really elevate our series to the next level. We are very lucky to have you guys apart of the group.  Welcome aboard. :)

Hey all! Sorry things have been a little quiet here lately. I have been battling some health stuff lately that has all but zapped my energy. When I can however I have been doing some tests to see if I can make my next GoW movie in glorious 3DS max. I think I can I think I can I think I can. Here are a couple renders for you to chew on! Hope you guys are great!
